Events Industry Board Strengthens its Membership with two New Appointments

New appointments have been made to the Events Industry Board to strengthen its membership. These are to ensure it continues to be fully representative of the various sectors of the industry that can influence the growth of international events that are held in the UK.

The new members are Leigh Jagger, CEO, EVCOM and formerly Director of the Banks Sadler Group (left on the picture) and Conrad Bird, Director of Campaigns and Marketing at the Department for International Trade and formerly the GREAT Campaign Director working in the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet Office Communication Department (middle on the picture).
Jennifer Jenkins, former CEO, EVCOM will be remaining on the Board as an independent member (right on the picture).

DEADLINE EXTENDED - Events Industry Board asks industry to support SOC code development

UPDATE - The Office for National Statistics have been asking businesses and organisations across the UK to share their expert knowledge to help inform a proposed extension of the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC). The response so far has been great. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to complete our online survey before 30th September.

New Events Industry Board survey to help identify EU funding infrastructure (2)

The UK Events Industry Board’s (EIB) Working Group for Infrastructure has launched a survey to help collate the value of EU grants, funding infrastructure and service related projects that have benefited business events across the UK.

Since Britain joined the European Union in 1973, the European Investment Bank has lent €118bn to help fund UK infrastructure projects. The EIB subgroup is keen to understand the current levels of investment so that it can make recommendations to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sports (DCMS) to keep the funding stream open.

Events Industry Board Appoints Michael Hirst OBE as Chair

Michael Hirst OBE has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Events Industry Board by Michael Ellis MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport following the resignation of Nick de Bois last summer.

Hirst has served as Deputy Chair since the creation of the Events Industry Board in 2016. He is also Chair of the Business Visits and Events Partnership, the organisation that connects the leading trade and professional organisations, government agencies in the events sector. Hirst also serves on the Tourism Industry Council and is a Director of the Tourism Alliance, he is also a director and consultant to companies in the commercial and hospitality sectors.
