Simon Hughes Elected as New Chair of the BVEP

The Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) the umbrella body and advocacy group for the UK’s £70 billion events industry, has today approved Simon Hughes to be its new Chair.

Simon, previously Vice Chair of the BVEP, replaces Michael Hirst OBE, who has served as its Chair since the partnerships formation in 1999 and who will continue to Chair the UK Events Industry Board and will join the partnership’s new Executive Committee.

MPI and MIA Rejoin BVEP to Strengthen Industry Voice & Collaboration

The Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) has announced that both the Meetings Industry Association (mia) and Meetings Professionals International UK & Ireland (MPI) have re-joined the partnership as full members. This takes the number of full partners in the BVEP, which is the umbrella body and advocacy group for the UK’s £70 billion events industry, to 28.

BVEP launches report focused on £70bn events industry

The Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP) has today launched its latest report titled ‘The UK Events Report’, which provides an in-depth examination into the £70bn industry, providing jobs for 700,000 people and how it will deliver the Government’s Industrial Strategy, which was launched last year.

COVID-19 Leaves UK Event Industry Suppliers on Knife Edge

Some 60% of the UK’s event industry’s supplier base is facing collapse within three months, unless event businesses receive further support from the Government, according to an on-line survey carried out by the Events Industry Forum (EIF) and Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) and co-ordinated by the Production Services Association (PSA) between 3-7th April, 2020. 6% of those businesses say they are unlikely to survive until the end of April!
